Safety

Prior to participating in one of our programs, specific documents and waivers must be completed on behalf of the participant. No athlete will be permitted to participate if the appropriate forms are not acknowledged by the parent or legal guardian. All registrations must be done through TeamSnap to ensure the proper waivers are completed.

Please review the information below for details on specific safety protocols. Please remember that these protocols are in place to protect our participants and safety must be at the forefront of our decision-making.

Concussion Designate: If an athlete sustains a concussion, or suspected concussion, during one of our events or activities, it is important the team’s Concussion Designate notify the Club’s Risk Management Coordinator to ensure this is documented and proper return to play protocols are followed.

The Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) is the core document that sets harmonized rules to be adopted by sport organizations that receive funding from the Government of Canada to advance a respectful sport culture that delivers quality, inclusive, accessible, welcoming and safe sport experiences. While our organization does not receive Government funds, we are committed to upholding the principles and values of UCCMS.

The UCCMS addresses:

  • a framework for determining appropriate sanctions against such prohibited behavior;
  • common principles and a commitment to advance a respectful sport culture;
  • standard definities of various forms of maltreatment, including grooming, neglect, and physial, sexual, and psychological abuse
  • a list of other prohibitive behaviour such as retaliation, failure to report maltreament, intentionally filing false allegations, misuse of power, etc.
